The content of this book is quite good. The author knows his stuff and presents interesting examples of horary charts. I got it for the Kindle Fire HD so I could read it on vacation. Unfortunately, the horary charts are so tiny that they are almost impossible to read on the Kindle, so I had to plug the data into my Solar Fire program to see what the author was talking about. If you get this book for the Kindle, you will need to cast the charts in your own software to be able to see the charts.Christopher responded to my comment about the small size of the charts:
"As far as the charts being small just turn your Kindle sideways and then double click the chart, this gives you a much larger chart." I tried this and it worked. The charts are still small but they become more readable if you follow his instructions.

Christopher Warnock has been a student of Astrology for nearly 13 years. Over the course of his professional tenure, he has made proclamations on thousands of charts and questions. In his case book, he has compiled 40 cases studies in a bare bones fashion. There are no frills, no long explanations or arguments, just straight forward answers and delineation technique.
I've been studying on my own for the past year and just purchased this book this month. I ventured to give my first professional reading based on his case study format and immediately received positive feedback from the customer. The readings are concise and accurate, allowing the astrologer to develop a systematic approach to the reading.
Mr. Warnock's Case Book helps discipline the student and gives the professional a format that customers are much more receptive to.
This is a great reference for anyone who wants learn horary astrology. The author goes into great detail of how he got the answer to each question asked. I continue too use it ad a reference.
Warnock covers many different horary questions in this book. However, a person requires an above average understanding of horary astrology as Warnock does not devote separate chapters on the rules and explanations of reading a horary chart. Although his readings are straightforward and easy to understand, I wish he had included more readings where the answers to the questions were in the affirmative. Overall he presented an imbalance of cases where the results were often not in the querent's favour. Perhaps he will publish a sequel in the future to address this lack. If you're interested in horary astrology, it's certainly worth reading and studying.
I can't recommend the kindle version of the book because the images are critical and books often have very small images (as in this case).
HOWEVER, the paperback book is excellent.
The idea behind this book is that a horary astrologer has clients come to him/her and ask question and, using the science of horary he/she answers the questions. This book is a collection of Mr. Warnock's cases.
He is very thorough in his explanations. The charts are in the square style which might not be familiar to many people, but they are perfectly comprehensible. Plus, Mr. Warnock includes lots of handy tables and charts that make it easy to see the relationships among the planets.
I believe this book is the only book of it's kind currently in print. If you are interested in horary, you should get this book.
If you are a rank beginner who will need astrological terms and procedures defined, then this isn’t the book for you. Get Anthony Louis’ "Horary Astrology Plain & Simple" for learning the rules and the concepts, then when you’re comfortable with those, come back to this book for the practice exercises.
Warnock’s Horary Case Book isn't a text explaining horary methods in general, it's a collection of examples of real questions and how the artist went about answering them, along with notations of follow-up with his clients to verify if the situation went as predicted. All in all, a very helpful collection of clinical notes!
The thing I really liked was that Warnock presents each example in a clear and methodical fashion, so that there's no uncertainty of what he looked for first, what he looked for next, etc. and why. He lists the presence of particular testimonies, and notes absence of potentially relevant testimonies, and notes his interpretive rationale so his coverage of the needed evidence to form a proper answer is quite thorough and balanced. His rationale is clear and to the point. I very much appreciated his examples.
I enjoyed taking the basic data (question, date & time question received, place question received & understood by artist) and analyzing it myself before reading Warnock’s analysis, so I could compare my skills to his. The only quibble I have with Warnock’s presentation is that he sometimes doesn’t tell you up front what the gender of the querent is, or of the person being asked about, so that in a few cases I didn’t fully understand the actual question until I’d finished reading his analysis, which gives these data as it unfolds. Not having gender or relationship specified at the outset in some cases led me to select erroneous significators in my analyses. This expository lapse was not a problem in most of the cases, as gender or personal relationship isn’t always a relevant factor anyway.
Editing is often a problem with books for some reason, and this book does have its share of editing errors. Misplaced apostrophes, spelling issues, pluralization errors, even missing words can be (un)encountered. There was one compound error at the 54% mark where a sentence was left hanging incomplete “In the end, the other 3 co-defendant’s attorneys followed our attorney’s lead, and all of them said” Said what? By implication, they may have chosen to agree on a common defense strategy, but that’s only supposition on my part, due to faulty editing. Fortunately, this was part of a client’s follow-up commentary, so the analysis didn’t hinge on this missing detail, whatever it was.
I, too, found that my plain vanilla wasn't up to the task of showing the charts clearly, even with the zoom function and using landscape orientation. No matter, I just used my home computer software to reproduce the charts as big as I needed them. Besides, I prefer modern wheels over the old-timey square chart style favored by Warnock, so I would have chosen to recast them even if the images weren't so tiny.
To summarize Warnock’s Horary Case Book isn’t perfect, but it’s a very useful book for horary students looking for a bit of practice after they’ve learned the basics of their art. Definitely worthwhile!
